Notes search highlights

2026-09-25 — Released behavior

Type a word or phrase into search notes while using the list view. Matching text receives a pale yellow highlight in titles and body snippets. Matching is literal and case-insensitive: punctuation is not interpreted as a regular expression. The same rows are used in the narrow Notes side panel.

When the body matches, its preview moves to the first matching passage rather than always showing the beginning of the note. Ellipses indicate omitted text. Clearing the query restores the ordinary preview and removes highlights. Grid cards and editor content are unchanged. These are presentation changes; search does not edit notes or change permissions.

Implementation and release

App PR #441 adds SearchHighlight.tsx, passes the query through ProfNotes list rows, and makes noteExcerpt select matching context. Merge commit: a457980521db86e88323c5edf393ef3502380b3d.

Main, staging and production refs were verified at the same commit after promotion. No duplicate deployment was triggered and no production note content was mutated.

Verification and screenshot status

  • TypeScript checking passed.
  • Full local Vitest run: 2,330 passed, 5 skipped.
  • Local Chrome preview visibly showed highlighted title and body matches.
  • Staging and production each returned HTTP 200 for /, /geyang/notes, /geyang/artifacts, and /geyang/artifacts/martini-live-studio.
  • CI formatting, typecheck/build, component tests and E2E shard 2 passed. CI run 36130994006 finished with three Source locator timeouts in shard 1: two breadcrumb checks in source-availability.spec.ts (lines 250 and 270), and the search-line alignment check in source-list.spec.ts (line 388). These match the outstanding failures from the earlier release. The user authorized release without waiting for full CI; this release is not described as fully green.

A fresh release screenshot and live interactive visual verification are pending. The browser refused access because its admin-policy verification was unavailable. HTTP health checks do not replace that visual acceptance, and no illustrative image is presented as a screenshot of the release.

Documentation scope

No public skill impact: this entry documents web-list presentation and release evidence. Notes API/CLI operations, examples, concurrency rules and the public dreamlake-notes source guide are unchanged.
